The trailer for Kajol’s new web series The Trial – Pyaar Kanoon Dhokha was released on Monday. The series marks Kajol’s OTT debut.

The series marks Kajol’s OTT debut. In the series, Kajol plays Noyonika Sengupta, a housewife who starts practising law again when her husband’s public scandal puts him in prison.

The two minute trailer showcases Noyonika’s husband played by actor Jisshu Sengupta, an additional judge, being arrested for accepting sexual favours as bribes to change verdicts. Noyonika is seen slapping her husband for cheating on her. The video shows Kajol as a good dutiful wife and a mother of two.

In a surprising turn of events, Noyonika embarks on a path she has long forsaken – stepping back into the courtroom. After an extended absence, she bravely confronts the scrutiny of her peers and the public as she strives to attain justice, not only for her own sake but also for the well-being of her family.

Directed by Suparn Verma, The Trial serves as an Indian adaptation of the acclaimed American series, The Good Wife, where the lead role is portrayed by Julianna Margulies. The show made its debut in 2009 and spanned seven seasons, concluding in 2016.

In The Trial, Kajol takes on the role of a housewife who resolutely returns to her career as a lawyer following her husband’s incarceration due to a scandal. The series also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Jisshu Sengupta, Sheeba Chaddha, and Kubbra Sait, among other notable actors.

The Trial will be available on the OTT platform on July 14.
