NEW DELHI: Citing “naari shakti” (women power) as the oxygen of a developed India, PM Narendra Modi in his “Mann Ki Baat” on Sunday highlighted empowering stories of women leading from the front in diverse spheres. From Asia’s first loco pilot Surekha Yadav to the women director and producer duo of the documentary “The Elephant Whisperers“, who brought laurels to the country by winning an Oscar, the PM said all such women are giving energy to India’s dreams.
Highlighting that women are at the forefront even in the most difficult of terrains in the country, the PM spoke of “brave-heart” Captain Shiva Chauhan of the Indian Army. He highlighted that she has become the first woman officer to be posted in Siachen.
The PM described the victory of two women legislators as “a new beginning in Nagaland”. He spoke of his meeting with the “brave daughters” who went to help the people of Turkey after the earthquake. All of them were part of the NDRF contingent.
