In a recent press release, Wendy Williams‘ team shared an update on the health of the beloved former daytime TV host, revealing her diagnosis with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), conditions that impact language, communication, and cognitive behavior. This announcement comes on the heels of another Hollywood icon, Bruce Willis, sharing a similar diagnosis last year.

Famous for her electrifying presence on The Wendy Williams Show from 2008 to 2021, Wendy stepped back from her hosting duties due to health concerns, openly discussing her battles with Graves’ Disease and lymphedema. Her decision comes after her show was discontinued in June 2022, following a period where various guest hosts stepped in.

In light of recent behaviors and difficulties, including challenges in processing information and understanding financial transactions, there had been much public speculation regarding Williams’ health. The release highlighted, “The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for Wendy but also to shine a light on aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, aiming to support others in similar situations and encourage a more understanding attitude towards these conditions.”

Amidst these challenges, Wendy Williams is making headlines once again with a two-part documentary airing on Lifetime titled Where Is Wendy Williams? offering an intimate glimpse into her life, including her health issues. Despite the film’s portrayal, Wendy’s sister, Wanda Finnie, assures fans in a recent interview with People magazine that Wendy is currently thriving in a nurturing environment dedicated to her wellness and healing. “She’s not the person that you see in this film,” Wanda reassures, spotlighting Wendy’s resilience through her health journey.

Where Is Wendy Williams? airs February 24 and 25 on Lifetime.
