While Mirzapur continues to receive praise, director Vidhu Vinod Chopra expressed a different opinion, referring to it as “bekar” (useless) in an interview. Vikrant Massey recently shared the story of how he was approached by Vidhu’s office for a role in the movie 12th Fail. Initially, Vikrant thought it might be a prank call. However, he went on to reminisce about his first encounter with director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. During their conversation, Vidhu admitted that he hadn’t seen much of Vikrant’s work but acknowledged that his wife had praised Vikrant’s performance in A Death in the Gunj.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra then voiced his opinion on Mirzapur, describing it as “useless.” In response, Vikrant expressed his surprise, as he believed that the series had a broad fan base, given that he is still recognised as Bablu Bhaiya. However, Vidhu remained unswayed and revealed that he had been unable to watch more than two complete episodes of the series.
