Vaibhavi Merchant, who choreographed the song ‘Dhindora Baje Re‘, in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani‘, recently opened up about the challenges she faced while teaching kathak to Ranveer Singh and Tota Roy Chaudhary.
In an interview with BollywoodBubble, Vaibhavi said that when Karan challenged her and told me that in Dhindora Baje Re has a sequence with Tota Roy Chaudhary and Ranveer Singh breaking into classical Kathak dance and they are doing this on the iconic song Dola Re Dola, she was shocked.She shared how Ranveer had never performed a classical dance before and Tota had never danced to save his life.

Elaborating further, Vaibhavi revealed that Ranveer was palpitating as he’s got anxiety calls. The ace choreographer added that she had to ensure that all his anxieties were calm. She also remembered tying the gungroo for Ranveer for the first day. According to her, it was an extensive eight days of dance and music.

In the same interview, Vaibhavi also spoke about the time, when she was not treated well by a debutant director who questioned her skills. However, she added that she heard him and was still very humble and didn’t bother about it. She did not let that affect her because there was a certain amount of blessing. She didn’t have a vision then. She just was doing a job on a set and she said she wants to do it to the best of her abilities.
