LUCKNOW: The STF of UP Police has come across audio evidence that suggests that after Umesh Pal murder on February 24, members of the Atiq Ahmed gang used code names to communicate with each other to evade arrest.
While Atiq’s son Asad was named ‘Radhey‘ apparently because of his hairstyle, Ghulam was code named ‘Ullu’ since he used to stay awake all night to conduct recce of the targets.
With both Radhey and Ullu neutralised in the encounter, now the police are on the hunt for ‘Murgi’, the code name for Guddu Muslim, another accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. He was code-named ‘Murgi’ as once he used to be a chicken feed supplier. Atiq was referred to as ‘Bade’ and Ashraf as ‘Chhote’. STF sources said the list was recovered from the phone of an aide of Atiq during a raid in south Delhi. They added that the gang members used hi-tech apps to interact and never used normal calls. They had also taken over 100 SIM cards, which they kept destroying after use.
