JAMMU: Indian Army personnel arrested two intruders — a father and son — from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district late Saturday afternoon.
The duo was identified as Sardar Abdul Hamid (65) and his son Abbass (35) of Polas village. Army troops caught them in Gulpur sector shortly after they had crossed over to the Indian side from PoK, said official sources, adding that no incriminating items were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
Sources said the two were being questioned and it was not yet clear whether they had crossed the border inadvertently or with some intention.
On April 9, the Army foiled a drug smuggling bid and shot dead an intruder while arresting two of his accomplices in Poonch’s Shahpur sector. Narcotics weighing 17kg were seized from them.
