Truth in Adani issue can come out only through JPC: Cong | India News

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: A day after NCP chief Sharad Pawar dismissed the demand for JPC probe into Adani row and batted for a Supreme Court inquiry, Congress Saturday argued that a court inquiry has serious limitations and the truth in the scam can only be established by a parliamentary probe. Rahul Gandhi even accused BJP of creating distractions through attacks from Congress defectors.
AICC spokesman Jairam Ramesh said, “The Supreme Court Committee has very limited terms of reference. It cannot bring out the deep nexus between PM and Adani. Only a JPC can find answers to the HAHK (Hum Adani ke Hain Kaun) series of 100 questions and more that are emerging. JPCs in 1992 and 2001 were both worthwhile exercises. ”
Continuing with his aggression which now focusses on investments in the shell companies of Adani group, Congress member Rahul Gandhi tweeted an image of the name “Adani”, with names of various Congress leaders who have joined BJP linked to each letter, to imply that media drama about defections from Congress and attacks from former party leaders are a distraction designed to diffuse the focus on the Adani issue.
“They hide the truth, that’s why they mislead everyday! The question remains the same —who’s Rs 20,000 crore benami money is in Adani’s companies?” The names linked to the word “Adani” were Ghulam (Azad), Anil (Antony), Scindia (Jyotiraditya), Himanta (Sarma), Kiran (Reddy).
While Congress members did not refer to Pawar in their social media posts, the rebuttal of SC-led probe was a clear response to the NCP patriarch. Congress has expressed confidence that Pawar’s views on Adani issue apart, NCP will stay with opposition camp and strengthen unity efforts to take on BJP to “save Constitution”.
