Citing an instance, KJo said, “I used to die because he met Mani sir at the same location where Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was being shot. Mani sir was making Dil Se, and he was shooting the ‘Chaiya Chaiya’ song, which, as a student, I wanted to go and watch. He (Yash Johar) kept gushing about me to Mani sir, and I’m trying to pinch him, saying, ‘Please, I beg you. I want to dig a hole and jump into it,’ because Mani Ratnam was god to all of us, you know, and continues to be. I went home and said, ‘Papa, you can’t, my film hasn’t been released.’ He says, ‘Nai, it’s your trumpet, if you don’t blow it, who else will?’”
‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, was released in 1998.
