Vivek Agnihotri helmed The Vaccine War is facing a tough time at the box office. The film opened on a low score of Rs 85 lakh on Friday and the same performance was repeated on day 2 as well.
According to early estimates, the film saw low occupancy on Friday and added another Rs 85 lakh to its total, reports Sacnilk. The two-day total domestic box office collection of The Vaccine War stands at a little over Rs 1.50 crore.
The film starsNana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles. The film is based on the book ‘Going Viral’ by Prof Balram Bhargava, Director General – Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and honours the efforts of India’s scientific community who created India’s indigenous COVID-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ within in a span of seven months amid the pandemic.
Speaking about The Vaccine War, Pallavi had recently told ANI, “A lot of people are confused…But this film is not based on Covid. We are only talking about how the vaccine was made and the problems faced during that time. This is not a dark film in any sense…It is a very positive film that celebrates our success. The audience will be filled with pride when they leave the theatres after watching it…We have proved that India can do it…”
In August this year, Vivek Agnihotri had helmed special screenings of The Vaccine War in the US under the India for Humanity Tour. The film was scheduled for released in August this year and was then pushed to October, eventually hitting the screens on September 28. The Vaccine was released in eleven Indian languages, Hindi, English, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Gujarati and Bhojpuri.
