Taylor Swift has announced her next re-recorded album: 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The latest album comes off the heels of her redone releases Fearless, Red, and Speak Now.

The singer disclosed the news to fans on Wednesday night during her Eras Tour in California at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Swift also posted the news on her social media accounts (“Surprise!!”), writing that 1989 changed her life and that this was her “favorite re-record.”

Following the announcement, the stadium projected “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” in glittering letters.

Swift is re-recording her old work because of a mix-up with Scooter Braun. When she left Big Machine Records in 2018, which was sold to Braun in 2019, who subsequently now owned the master recordings of Swift’s music.

By redoing her songs, Swift will own these tracks — and having grown as an artist, she has complete creative freedom to tweak them as she sees fit.
