Sudhir Mishra reveals Bollywood is a ‘soft target’ when it comes to censorship, shares the whole concept is ‘dangerous’ | Hindi Movie News

For a filmmaker whose body of work includes movies like Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Chameli amongst others, Sudhir Mishra is a man of few words and lets his work do the talking.

In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the ‘villainization’ of the industry and why Bollywood is a soft target. He said, “Outside the film industry, everyone has become a censor now. I say something, everyone thinks they are allowed to bash me. That is dangerous. I find it hilarious that an industry, which changes its stories because a star said so, talks so much about censorship. It happens constantly”, he told Mid-Day.

He also added that the industry as a whole is a soft target for haters. He added, “The villainisation of the industry is ridiculous. We are soft targets. A lot of people in the business are overpaid, but 90 per cent of the people are hard-working. They do their work honestly. The film industry does good — it educates and entertains the audience for two hours. I think the country treats them badly. It is the government’s job to look after the film industry, which is a public service in my opinion.”
