Despite Zachary Levi, Rachel Zegler, and Lucy Liu cementing themselves in the DC universe via the new “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” movie, the three disagree on who makes the best Batman. A whopping seven actors have slipped into the Dark Knight’s cape on the silver screen, but the fellow DC actors’s all named different favourites — with Levi even admitting he hasn’t seen the most recent iteration. “I haven’t seen ‘The Batman.’ I know, I know,” he divulged to News JoJo as he saw a look of disapproval.
Levi, who plays Shazam/Billy in the new “Shazam!” sequel, did say he regards Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, who star in “The Batman,” as “so talented,” so we’ll let him off the hook. Zegler, who plays Anthea, also admitted she’d never seen “Batman vs. Superman.” “I do love Ben Affleck as Batman, too, so I’m kind of a fake fan,” she confessed. While Liu, who plays villain Kalypso, is a firm fan of The Dark Knight Trilogy. “I really love Christian Bale in anything that he does.” We can’t argue with that!
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” sees Levi returning as the titular superhero character that Billy Batson (played by Asher Angel) turns into upon saying “Shazam!” Following the success of the 2019 release, the latest film sees Billy and his fellow foster kid friends coming to terms with their superhero alter egos, until a trio of ancient gods return to Earth to take away their powers. In this installment, Billy is 17 so Levi channels his inner teenager to inhabit the role, but it’s not an age he’d like to return to IRL. “The idea of going back to that angst, that lack of understanding who you are,” he says. “All the drama, all the nonsense, I wouldn’t want to touch that with a 10 foot pole.”
