Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan may be called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to record their statements in connection to a probe involving former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Aryan was arrested by the NCB in an alleged drugs bust last year and Wankhede was the investigating officer in the matter. An official told Hindustan Times that Rs 25 crore was demanded from SRK by the accused Kiran Gosavi and Sanville D’Souza at the behest of Wankhede, which is why the actor’s statement will be recorded in this alleged extortion matter.
On May 11, the CBI filed an FIR for Rs 25 crore bribe, naming Wankhede, NCB officers – Ashish Ranjan and dismissed superintendent Vishwa Vijay Singh-and two private persons. It was alleged that they sought Rs 25-crore bribe for not implicating Aryan in the cruise drug bust case. Wankhede denied the allegations, calling them “blatantly false”. He has also reportedly cited messages sent by Shah Rukh. In his defense, Wankhede filed a plea in Bombay HC stating that the CBI’s action against him is an act of revenge. His plea stated, “At no point of time has the petitioner initiated any conversation with Shah Rukh in connection with this case.”
