Sbi: SBI customers fret over outage in online services

MUMBAI: State Bank of India (SBI) said that due to a “technical glitch”, some of the bank’s digital services were impacted for a few hours on Monday. The bank said that the issue is resolved, and all digital services are live and restored.
The bank’s statement came in the wake of an online and mobile banking outage on Monday, the first working day of the new financial year. The changeover to the new financial year witnesses high transactions as most businesses try to conclude many transactions before March 31, either to meet targets or comply with statutory requirements.
SBI is the country’s largest provider of digital banking services with 5.75 crore registered users of its mobile banking app. Over 21,000 people use the app to open savings accounts every day.
Earlier in the day, bank customers took to social media to air their grievances after they could not access online services. SBI’s flagship Yono app was also not available to many customers.
“We apologise for the inconvenience to our valued customers. The bank is always working toward implementing measures to prevent such occurrences. We thank you for your patience and continued trust in SBI,” the bank said.
Earlier, SBI had warned customers that the Yono app would not be available from between 13.30 hours to 16.45 hours on April 1, 2023, due to “annual closing activities”.
Users of the Yono mobile app got repeated messages that the device cannot connect to the server, while those trying to connect to the website received a message that the bank’s servers are not responding to connection attempts.
One customer said that he was trying to transfer funds from his SBI savings account to his public provident fund account within the bank but could not.
Customers also reported problems with UPI transactions. Many customers were upset as they could not access their salary on payday.
