Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik: A Tale of Extra-Marital Affairs and Family Estrangement |

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik announced his marriage to Pakistani actress Sana Javed on Saturday, confirming his separation from retired Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. While Shoaib shared joyous pictures of the nuptials on his Instagram, a report from The Pakistani Daily has raised eyebrows.
The report claimed that none of Shoaib’s family members attended the wedding.It further suggested serious concerns from Malik’s sisters regarding his divorce with Sania Mirza, citing the tennis star was tired of ex-husband’s alleged extra-marital affairs.
This is Shoaib’s third marriage. He divorced his first wife Ayesha Siddiqui in order to marry Sania Mirza. Shoaib and Sania had got married in Hyderabad in April 2010 and they used to live in Dubai. They welcomed their son Izaan in 2018. Their five-year-old son lives with Sania.

Soon after Shoaib announced his marriage to Sana, a family source told PTI that Sania had initiated the divorce proceedings. “It was a ‘khula’. I do not wish to comment beyond this,” said the source. Khula refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.

Sania had previously hinted at a separation from Shoaib through a cryptic post, which reads, “Marriage is hard, Divorce is hard. Choose your hard. Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard, Choose your hard. being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard. Communication is hard. No communicating is hard. Life will never be easy. I will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely.”

Shoaib’s third wife Sana Javed has starred in a number of hit drama serial and also acted in Pakistani films. She had married singer Umair Jaiswal in 2020 at a simple ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic. But, two months earlier, reports about their divorce emerged.
