‘Sachin Pilot sits on dharna but his turn won’t come because …’: Amit Shah mocks Rajasthan Congress crisis | India News

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah mocked the internal conflict plaguing the Congress in Rajasthan, asserting that the grand old party will never pick Sachin Pilot over current chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
Addressing BJP workers in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, Shah said that Congress will always give precedence to chief minister Ashok Gehlot over Sachin Pilot as his contribution is higher in filling its coffers with the “corruption” money from the state.
Shah’s remarks come in the backdrop of a fierce leadership tussle between Gehlot and Pilot, which has gotten worse in the last few weeks.
“Pilot sits on dharna on any pretext but his number will not come because his contribution in filling the coffers of Congress party is less and Gehlot’s contribution is higher,” Shah said.
Gehlot has made the Rajasthan government an “‘adda’ (hub) of corruption and has looted the state. This money of corruption has gone to the coffers of the Congress party,” the BJP leader alleged.
On the acquittal of the accused in the 2008 Jaipur bomb blast case, Shah alleged that the Congress government did not present proper arguments in the high court due to vote bank politics.
“The government is doing vote bank politics on the deaths of blast victims,” he alleged.
He that it is “a 3-D government in Rajasthan and three Ds stands for ‘dange’ (riots), ‘durvyavhar’ (ill-treatment) with women and ‘Dalit’ atrocities.
People “will vote out the government in elections,” Shah said and exuded confidence that the BJP will form the government with a 2/3 majority in assembly elections and will again win all 25 seats in Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan.
Earlier this week, former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot observed a one-day fast’ in Jaipur to protest against the inaction by the current Gehlot government in cases of alleged corruption during the previous Vasundhara Raje government.
Pilot defied the party’s central leadership’s warning that the move would be considered “anti-Congress”.
The rivalry between the two leaders have intensified in the last few years with both of them taking potshots at each other in public.
Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads ever since the Congress formed the government in Rajasthan in December 2018 over the post of chief minister.
The rivalry assumes significance in view of the state elections due later this year.
