In a turn of events that’s set the internet abuzz, Ryan Gosling has confirmed he will be lighting up the stage at the 2024 Oscars with a performance that promises to be as electric as it is eagerly awaited. The charm and charisma widely known as “Kenergy” by his fans will grace the Oscars, performing the Oscar-nominated banger “I’m Just Ken” from the critically acclaimed movie Barbie.

For weeks, the rumor mill churned with whispers and wishes of Gosling taking on the Oscars stage. It felt like the world held its breath, waiting for the nod. And then, Variety dropped the bombshell – Ryan Gosling is officially the performer we’ve been waiting for. Though the Academy has kept mum, the silence speaks volumes.

The Barbie track, a creative genius crafted by Mark Ronson, is in the running for Best Original Song. Adding more glitter to Gosling’s gold, he’s also in contention for a Best Supporting Actor nod, proving that his talents stretch far beyond his ‘Kenergy.’

Oscars tradition has the Best Original Song nominees perform live, creating unforgettable moments that blend cinematic stories with real-life spectacle. However, it’s not always the original artists who belt out the tunes, which made Gosling’s participation a thrilling mystery.

Just when we thought we might not see Gosling perform, he hinted to Variety earlier this month about his openness to the idea: “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it,” he admitted. “But I’m open to it.” Talk about playing it cool!

Making a smashing entry, “I’m Just Ken” hit the Billboard Hot 100, cruising in at No. 87. A first for Gosling, but considering the track’s catchy beats, surely not the last. Warner Bros. teased us earlier with a behind-the-scenes glimpse showcasing Gosling’s transformation – a process he described as the most unserious of his career, with director Greta Gerwig visibly awestruck.

Mark Ronson, the musical maestro behind the track, revealed to Rolling Stone the vision Gerwig had for the song. “I need the most maximalist thing you’ve ever written,” she demanded. And delivered, he did.

As we countdown to the Oscars, one thing is certain – all eyes will be on Ryan Gosling as he brings “I’m Just Ken” to life on stage, marking a moment that will undoubtedly be etched in Oscars’ history. Will this be Gosling’s year to shine both on stage and in the nominee pool? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – we can’t wait to see it unfold.
