RPF Constable Arrested for Impersonating CBI Officer and Committing Extortion and Forgery | India News

LUCKNOW: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) unit arrested a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable for allegedly impersonating a CBI official for extortion and forgery purposes.
The accused, identified as Sunil Yadav, allegedly used a duplicate CBI identity card to impersonate a CBI official posted at CBI head office in Delhi. The accused also used the name of Naya Mandi Police Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar to serve a forged CBI notice to a businessman, Pravin Jain.
Yadav, a resident of Meerut, had come on deputation to CBI in July 2022 before getting repatriated prematurely in March 2023 to the parent organization RPF.
It has been alleged that the accused demanded money from the businessman to get him relief in the said CBI case.
Yadav is also accused of threatening the businessman to strike a compromise with another person in a land dispute matter which was under litigation between them.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused in Delhi and Meerut, which led to the recovery of forged documents including, a fake CBI identity card, and a forged Notice u/s 91 of CrPC purportedly issued by CBI in a criminal case.
Further, documents were also recovered during a search at the residential premise of the another person in Meerut. The accused is being produced today before a competent court.
