Do not worry, Richard Simmons fans, the eccentric fitness guru is not close to death, despite his series of concerning tweets on Monday.

Simmons posted a thread on X with the announcement, “Please don’t be sad. I am… dying. Oh, I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death. Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest every single day. Get up in the morning and look at the sky… count your blessings and enjoy.”

The subsequent tweets included suggestions for improving eating habits, sleep quality, and physical activity.

Fear not, Richard Simmons fans. The eccentric fitness personality is not dying, despite his string of rather unsettling tweets Monday.

“I have some news to tell you,” Simmons began in a thread on X. “Please don’t be sad. I am… dying. Oh, I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death. Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest every single day. Get up in the morning and look at the sky… count your blessings and enjoy.”

A series of tips followed for better eating, sleeping, and, yes, exercising.

“Start with a healthy breakfast. Do you like oatmeal… Whole wheat toast ..eggs once or twice a week Fresh fruit or half of an English muffin? Then there is lunch. How about a nice salad? Don’t eat your dinner too late. Combine your protein with a starch and a few vegetables… A big hug really goes a long way. If you have time I want you to listen to a terrific song. It is by Tim McGraw. It is called ‘Live Like You Were Dying.’ Live today and don’t forget to pray.”

However, as time went by, the messages caused widespread confusion, leading many to mistakenly think that Simmons was on the brink of death. The media even contacted him to inquire about the well-being of the beloved fitness expert.

Hours later, he returned to X to clarify his well-being.

“Sorry many of you have gotten upset about my message today. Even the press has gotten in touch with me. I am not dying. It was a message about saying how we should embrace every day that we have. Sorry for this confusion.”

In 2014, Simmons reduced his public appearances, causing false rumors that he was being held against his will. Three years later, journalist Dan Taberski produced a podcast titled Missing Richard Simmons, in which he delved into Simmons’s sudden disappearance from the public eye and the reasons behind the exercise instructor’s absence.

Despite ongoing speculation, Simmons finally addressed the rumors in 2022 with a statement to the New York Post stating that he was content, in good health, and living the life he had chosen.
