Ranbir Kapoor’s role in Rockstar is often cited as one of his best performances. The Imtiaz Ali directorial saw him play a musician who navigates the pitfalls of fame and success. A lesser-known fact about the film is that John Abraham was initially cast in the film.
Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that John Abraham was supposed to play his role in Rockstar. At a recent event, the actor revealed that Imtiaz Ali had come to him with a film on marketing. He said, “I remembered that before I became an actor, I had heard that John Abraham was doing Rockstar but that did not happen and it got shelved, I don’t know for what reason.”
Imtiaz Ali explained that John Abraham was replaced since the protagonist’s character was changed and called for a younger actor. “I had started off with John, but now, as the story has changed, he was not required.”
Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film which also featured Shraddha Kapoor arrived in March this year. Ranbir will next be seen in Animal alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and others.
