Rameshwaram cafe blast case: NIA has detained BJP worker, claims Karnataka minister | India News

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru last March, Karnataka’s health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Friday.
According to the minsters post on X, the BJP worker, identified as Saiprasad, was apprehended from Thirthahalli in Shimoga district, Karnataka.

The NIA, which took charge of the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case on March 13, had previously arrested Muzammil Shareef, believed to be the main mastermind of the blast. Shareef’s arrest followed raids in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

The prime suspect, Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain, and co-conspirator Abdul Matheen Taha are yet to be arrested.
According to reports, the blast at the eatery on ITPL road in Bengaluru’s Brookefield area on March 1 involved an IED, causing injuries to customers and staff and damaging the establishment.
