‘Bheed’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles, could not seem to draw in the masses, despite some good reviews coming in from B-town stars.
According to a report on boxofficeindia.com, the film earned an estimated Rs 1.50 core nett over its first weekend. The movie, which hit the big screens on Friday, was off to a slow start, earning just Rs 40 lakh. The film saw minimal growth on Saturday, collecting an estimated Rs 55 lakh and dropping again on Sunday with a collection of Rs 50 lakh.

Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Bheed’ brought to the big screen, realistic scenarios of various issues like – food, shelter, transport, healthcare, loss of livelihood, etc- faced by the people during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown. It focuses on social disparity and draws a comparison to Partition in 1947.

The film has been churning a lot of conversations and controversies, however, it did not seem to translate into box office numbers.

Rana revealed in an interview with IANS that the idea of making ‘Bheed’ in black and white was quite apt as ‘one cannot show a tragedy in colour’.
