NEW DELHI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi interacted with women gathering ‘mahua’ flowers near Umaria town in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. He inquired about their challenges, posing for photos with them, as per a senior party official.
The Mahua trees are plentiful in the dense forests of Madhya Pradesh, serving as a primary source of livelihood for tribal communities.
On Monday, former Congress president Gandhi held rallies in Seoni and Mandla districts of Madhya Pradesh as part of his party’s campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
While traveling on Tuesday morning, Rahul observed women gathering mahua flowers in a forest near Umaria town.
“Soon after watching the women collecting mahua in the forest, Gandhi stopped his vehicle, reached in the midst of them and asked about their problems and challenges,” the Congress leader said.
Later, Rahul Gandhi left for his onward destination.
The Wayanad Lok Sabha member had to spend the night in MP’s Shahdol district. Bad weather prevented his helicopter from taking off on Monday, as explained by a Congress official.
A police official, however, contradicted the earlier claim, stating that the helicopter remained grounded due to the delayed arrival of a fuel tanker meant for refueling in Shahdol.
Senior BJP leader and former MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a jab on Monday evening, humorously claiming that Gandhi’s party and his helicopter had run out of fuel.
