PVRINOX denies unfair practices against Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’ and favouring Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’: ‘It’s one of the most anticipated..’

Yesterday several reports were doing the rounds that ‘Salaar‘ has decided to withdraw its release from the PVRINOX and Mira and Miraj Cinema in the south. This was because these two theatre chains were not given ‘Salaar’ the fair number of screens in the north and were favouring ‘Dunki’ more. As these reports surfaced, ETimes had reached out to Kamal Gianchandani who is the CEO of PVRINOX and he had said, “No comments. These are just market speculations.”
Meanwhile, today, the theatre chain has issued a statement refuting these reports. In this statement, they’ve said, “We have come across some speculative media reports about the film SALAAR and its release at PVR INOX Cinemas. We would like to clarify that these reports are incorrect, SALAAR is one of the most anticipated films of the year and it’s releasing across pan India PVR INOX cinemas on the scheduled release date i.e., 22 December 2023. statement from PVR INOX.”
Gianchandani also took to X, to clarify the stand of PVRInox and he wrote, “Commercial disagreements is par for the course with big films releasing on the same date. Not the first time. Won’t be the last time. Everything will fall in place soon. Please put these ridiculous theories to bed.”
While ‘Dunki’ had a good advance opening today, ‘Salaar’ is set to release tomorrow. The trade had felt that due to its release a day prior, ‘Dunki’ will have an edge. However, the advance bookings for ‘Salaar’ for Friday look huge!
