Punjab to get Sadak Suraksha Force to address road safety concerns | India News

NEW DELHI: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann handed recruitment letters to as many as 461 youths and urged them to follow the path of justice on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh’s Parkash Purab on January 17.
Mann further announced that starting from Republic Day, the Sadak Suraksha Force will be deployed to serving the people. This force, currently undergoing training in Kapurthala, will help in reducing the fatality rate due to road accidents in the state and improving traffic management.
Over 40,000 youth have been selected for various government departments solely based on merit, Punjab CM informed.
Speaking at the event held at municipal Bhawan, the chief minister emphasized the teachings of the great Sikh guru, who stood against tyranny, injustice, and oppression. He called upon everyone to pledge their commitment to serve the people with sincerity and dedication.
Equipped with modern gadgets and medical kits, approximately 130 vehicles will be stationed every 30 kilometers to monitor the roads and provide emergency assistance.
200 civilian support staff in the Investigation Cadre and 245 new sub-inspectors in the Punjab Bureau of Investigation wing were recently appointed while several recruitment drives are still ongoing to provide employment.
Chief minister Mann emphasized the importance of continuous recruitment in the Punjab Police, aiming to recruit 1800 Constables and 300 Sub-Inspectors annually. Additionally, the government plans to open eight hi-tech centers to provide quality training for competitive exams, enabling youth to secure prestigious positions in the state and country.
Mann also highlighted that the government is focussing on modernizing the police force and introducing artificial intelligence to combat the evolving challenges effectively. He expressed confidence in the Punjab Police to counter the various challenges that state is facing, including cross-border smuggling, narco-terrorism and organized crime.
