NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed his attendance for the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for February 14 next year. This follows an invitation from Swami Ishwarcharandas, Swami Brahmaviharidas, and the temple’s board of directors, as announced in a BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha press statement.
During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residential office on Wednesday, PM Modi warmly accepted the invitation from BAPS Swami Ishwarcharandas. The Prime Minister was honored with a garland and a saffron shawl, symbolizing appreciation for his substantial contributions to India and the international community. Notably, the press statement highlighted his exceptional work in renovating and developing India’s pilgrimage sites.
The conversation at the meeting centered on the Abu Dhabi temple’s role in fostering global harmony and aligning with Modi’s aspirations for India’s spiritual influence worldwide.
“The BAPS delegation commended the Prime Minister’s health and his significant global achievements, particularly in strengthening ties with the UAE and other Middle Eastern nations. His leadership has been a source of pride and inspiration to Indians around the globe,” the statement mentioned.
PM Modi fondly recalled his memories of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and his centenary celebrations, while offering prayers for Mahant Swami Maharaj’s well-being.
The Prime Minister also recognized the dedication of individuals involved in the Abu Dhabi BAPS Hindu Mandir project, including Chairman Ashok Kotecha, Vice Chairman Yogesh Mehta, and Director Chirag Patel, acknowledging their work as a source of national pride.
In a lighter moment, PM Modi inquired about Chirag Patel’s passion for tennis and his family’s involvement in the sport, encouraging Patel’s children to excel in their pursuits.
Swami Brahmaviharidas presented the latest updates on the temple, highlighting its detailed carvings and majestic design. He described the upcoming inauguration as a monumental event signifying global unity.
PM Modi remarked on the temple’s embodiment of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family), envisioning it as a space transcending mere beliefs and traditions to represent a melding of diverse cultures and civilizations, symbolizing a future of spiritual harmony.
