Victoria Monét is feeling the love after releasing her long-awaited “Jaguar II” album. Fellow artists came out to celebrate the singer-songwriter at La Mesa in Los Angeles on Friday, Aug. 25, the same day her LP arrived. The event, sponsored by Tres Generaciones Tequila with tunes by DJ Fannie Mae, had a star-studded guest list that included everyone from Cardi B and Kelly Rowland to JoJo, Quinta Brunson, and many more.
Monét’s “Jaguar II” has been years in the making, she previously told News JoJo. The album, originally slated to be part of a three-part series, serves as the final installment of the “Party Girls” singer’s Jaguar universe — which she describes as the “more developed, confident, sure, better older sister” of its predecessor.
“I was wanting to establish myself as an artist, and I thought the best way to do that was to create this universe that would be the world of Jaguar, but give it to people in microdoses,” the mom of one explained of the ’70s-inspired project. She also shared that she hopes “people find themselves in the album,” adding, “Because I’ve said my piece, reflected on what I feel, and what I want to say. So I’m hoping that the songs in the album reflect what people want to hear and what they want to say that they didn’t say themselves.”
Up next, Monét is heading out on her first-ever solo headlining tour in September, which is completely sold out. As she embraces her “level-up,” the R&B songstress said she feels “really good” about “what’s to come after ‘Jaguar II.'”
