NEW DELHI: Cracking down on the multi-state network of outlawed outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), the NIA on Friday filed a supplementary chargesheet against three persons accused of espousing and disseminating PFI’s extremist ideology and organising weapons training camps in Tamil Nadu for radicalised individuals across and also arresting two accused from Kota for allegedly inciting religious hatred, radicalisation, running training caps and raising funds for committing terror acts.
Accused in Tamil Nadu PFI case Abdul Razzak, Mohamed Yusuf and Kyzer A (A-18) arrested on May 9 this year were allegedly training the outfit’s cadres to identify and categorise targets opposing the PFI ideology to attack, assault, maim and murder. Evidence shows that these accused persons had conspired and recruited new cadres into a self-styled PFI army raised to overthrow the government of India through violent means and usher Islamic rule in India by the year 2047.
NIA said the operations of arrested PFI leaders/cadres in Tamil Nadu were conducted through its state headquarters located in Purasawakkam, Chennai, as well as through various district offices across Tamil Nadu, facilitated by their network of frontal organisations. “They have been promoting hatred and ill will between members of different religious groups and carrying out activities prejudicial to the maintenance of communal harmony,” NIA said in a statement on Friday.
NIA had in March this year filed a charge-sheet against 10 accused persons in the case.
Another important development on Friday was the arrest of accused Vajid Ali and Mubarak Ali, both residents of Kota. Investigations revealed that Mr. Mohammad Ashif, Sadiq Sarraf, and Mohd. Sohail, all trained PFI cadres, were involved in a criminal conspiracy and activities that included recruitment of members/cadres to the PFI for the purpose of committing violent acts. Sarraf and Ashif were radicalizing Muslim youth to commit unlawful and terrorist acts in various parts of India, including Rajasthan.
Investigations uncovered that Vajid and Mubarak, along with the previously charge-sheeted accused individuals Mohammed Asif, Sadik Sarraf, and Mohammed Sohail, were involved in organising weapons training camps in Jaipur and Kota..
PFI collected funds from members of the Muslim community under the guise of Zakat charity. These funds, instead of being utilised for welfare and charitable activities, were diverted to supporting weapons trainers and training workshops organised by PFI.
