Parliament Security: Co-villagers give clean chit to Lalit Jha, parents to move court | India News

PATNA: Co-villagers are shocked and shattered over the revelation that their young neighbour Lalit Jha is the alleged mastermind behind Wednesday Parliament Security Breach even as the Darbhanga police which began investigation into his family background found nothing “objectionable” against him nor any criminal history in the past.
Lalit originally hails from Rampur-Uday, a nondescript village tucked away under Bahera police station in northern Bihar’s Darbhanga district.
A Bahera police station official said they reached Rampur-Uday village late Friday evening and began investigation into the case during which they talked to Lalit’s parents as well as the villagers but received “no adverse comments” against them.
“We visited Lalit’s home for verification of his name and address as advised and inquired about his conduct from local villagers, but they didn’t pass any adverse comments,” a Bahera thana police official Raushan Kumar told TOI over phone on Saturday.

’ (rebellious nature) nor they have ever indulged in any controversy in the past,” the police official said. “However, the villagers appeared stunned and startled over the police revelations against him,” he said.
Local sub-divisional police officer Manish Chandra Choudhary who visited the spot said Lalit’s parents are settled in Kolkata and occasionally come to their village. “Lalit Jha’s father Devanand Jha is a priest, and we were told by the villagers that the family hasn’t been involved in any controversy,” Choudhary said.
But the local villagers looked simply stunned by the teams of police and the media people visiting their village to learn about Lalit’s past. “We are tired of giving details to the police teams and the media people. Nothing less than 200 media persons visited our village all through the day on Saturday and inquired about Jhas. We are shocked as this has earned a very bad name for our areas,” local Adhloam panchayat Mukhiya Madan Jha told the TOI.
However, Lalit’s parents claimed their child was “innocent” and announced to move the court. “My son can’t do anything wrong. He has been a good student who was awarded in the past. Currently, he has been teaching students,” Lalit’s father Devanand Jha told the local media.
He said he came to know about his son’s arrest only on Friday as he doesn’t have any TV set nor mobile connection. He along with his wife Manjula Jha reached their native village in Darbhanga only on Monday, and very interestingly, it was their son Lalit who saw them off as the train left the Howrah junction on December 10.
Lalit’s mother looks dazed and screams amid sobs, “My child is not a rogue. He cannot indulge in wrongdoings. He has always loved to help people. He has donated his blood three times”. Simply stunned at the sudden turn of events, she said, “
