The 56-year-old model and celebrity opened up about her Barbie history during a recent interview and explained how she received a very special doll.

“Ruth Handler actually gave me one of the first Barbies,” Pamela recalled during an interview with Elle. “She was a neighbor. It was the first platinum Barbie, in a red bathing suit.”

Despite having such an iconic connection to Barbie, Pamela added that the character wasn’t who she most closely related to. “I resonated more with Barbarella, or maybe Barb Wire, than Barbie,” she told the outlet with a laugh.
