Pakistan Airlines cabin crew member goes missing in Canada | World News

NEW DELHI: A cabin crew of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), who flew to Toronto on PIA flight PK-782 from Islamabad, went missing while on duty.
According to Dawn, Maryam Raza did not show up for her duty on the return flight, PK-784 bound for Karachi, making it the second such incident this year.
Upon opening her hotel room in Toronto, authorities discovered her uniform along with a note which read ‘Thank you, PIA’.
Raza, a veteran with 15 years of service, had been assigned to the flight from Islamabad to Toronto.
This incident marks the second case this year of a PIA stewardess ‘vanishing’ upon landing in Canada, according to the airline spokesman. Officials attribute this trend to the flexible Canadian law that provides asylum opportunities after entering the country.
Last month, an air hostess did not report for the return flight after arriving in Canada. Last year, at least seven PIA cabin crew members went missing in Canada while performing their flight duties.
The airline spokesperson said that a crew member, who had absconded a few years ago has now settled in Canada, is offering advice to others contemplating seeking asylum.
