A female NYPD officer was apprehended by federal officials for allegedly being involved in the distribution of substantial amounts of narcotics, notably fentanyl and heroin, while on active duty, reports New York Post.
Grace Rose Baez, aged 37, was taken into custody, alongside Cesar Martinez from Yonkers, and both were charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics and the distribution of narcotics, as per a New York Post report.
Both of them are accused of attempting to peddle these illicit substances to an undercover federal informant within the timeframe of October 9 to October 29.
Baez, reportedly provided the informant with a sample of what she claimed to be ‘high-quality’ fentanyl, concealed within a Mentos candy container.
She allegedly offered to sell the informant one kilogram of heroin for $25,000 and 800 grams of fentanyl, with the final price to be determined later based on the purity of the narcotics.
Baez is said to have conducted these transactions while on desk duty at an NYPD facility, orchestrating meetings and haggling prices for the sale of “kilogram quantities of narcotics,” according to federal authorities.
