PATNA: Parliamentarian and Bihar’s former Dy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday accused CM Nitish Kumar of trying to cause a split in the BJP by frequently “heaping praises” on former Prime Minister late AB Vajpayee and cautioned such tricks won’t serve any purposes.

Talking to the media persons after paying floral tributes to late Vajpayee on his death anniversary, SuMo questioned Nitish’s move to pay floral tributes to the late PM after ditching the NDA twice. He said it was Atalji who had formed the NDA.
“Nitish Kumar has not been praising Atal ji out of respect; rather to show PM Modi in poor light by comparing him with other party leader. But he must remember that ‘Dono koi alag nahin hain (both are not different),” Modi said.

Stating that PM Modi was only carrying forward the ‘tradition’ of late Vajpayee, SuMo said it was strange to see Nitish praising late Vajpayee but criticising PM Modi. He said Nitish can’t afford to treat them differently saying “If he supports late Vajpayee, then he also will have to do the same for PM Modi.”
“Former PM late Vajpayee and current PM Modi, both served as RSS pracharaks and remained committed to the same ideology, but Nitish Kumar praises Atalji and criticizes PM Modi in his bid to create a split in the BJP. This mischief will never succeed,” SuMo said and revealed how Nitish had once strongly opposed the candidature of LK Advani as a PM candidate—the person upon whom he often showers praises in his speeches today.
Nitish has been frequently recalling the contributions of late Vajpayee in his speeches and highlighting the kind of association he had with the former. Only last week, Nitish told how they would religiously attend the Parliament session while Vajpayee was the PM but this has gone missing today.
“House chalta hai, bahar ghumte rahte hain (Keeps roaming around while the House is in session). Such things never happened before either during the government Vajpayee headed or before. Everyone attended the House session before,” Nitish told the media last week on the sidelines of the ‘Martyrdom Day’ function, obliquely referring to PM Modi.
