SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Saturday attached the house of a key conspirator in a 2022 arms seizure case, in Chanapora area of Srinagar.
A NIA spokesperson said the accused, Aamir Mushtaq Ganaie, was associated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and was using the residential property for conspiring and committing terror crimes against the country.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police had registered a case in May 2022 following the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the house. The probe was handed over to the NIA about a month later.
The case was part of a larger conspiracy related to drone-dropping of weapons and money by a Pakistan-based module operating in J&K, of which Ganaie was one of the masterminds.
The NIA had earlier arrested and chargesheeted Faisal Muneer, who used to receive the weapons sent from across the border by one Sajjad Gul alias Hamza.
Faisal used to deliver the weapons to Ganaie in Srinagar, who further distributed them to active cadres/terrorists of TRF and LeT for carrying out targeted killings in J&K, the probe agency said.
According to the NIA spokesperson, the accused were also engaged in radicalising, motivating and instigating the youth to join TRF/LeT and other terror outfits in Kashmir.
Besides arms and ammunition, the investigators had recovered several incriminating materials, including chats regarding terror funds, from the mobile phones of the accused persons.
