NEW DELHI: In upstate New York, a search operation involving over 100 individuals, including 75 law enforcement personnel, is underway for a missing nine-year-old girl named Charlotte Sena, who was camping with her family.
According to a report in NDTV, Charlotte, a fourth-grader, was last seen riding her bicycle at Moreau Lake State Park on Saturday evening, and authorities suspect she may have been abducted.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul, during a press conference, provided details about the incident, explaining that Charlotte had been riding her bike in the early evening with close friends she considers cousins.
After doing a few loops with them, she decided to go for one more solo ride. However, when she didn’t return within 15 minutes, her parents became concerned and initiated a search, NDTV reported.
Governor Hochul continued, describing the timeline of events. Thirty minutes later, at 6:47 PM, Charlotte’s mother, Trisha, called 911. By 7:00 PM, state police were on the scene, launching an extensive search effort.
She went on to emphasize the scope of the search, which involved multiple teams and resources, including New York State Police, dogs, aviation units, bloodhounds, special response teams, New York State Park Police, forest rangers, underwater rescue teams, and technology experts to analyze communications within the park.
Governor Hochul highlighted the comprehensive nature of the search, with more than 100 personnel, two drones, an airboat search team, and six underwater rescue teams dedicated to the mission. She emphasized their determination to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to locate Charlotte.
Furthermore, the New York State Police have also activated an Amber Alert, a child abduction emergency alert, in response to Charlotte’s disappearance. The alert includes a description of what Charlotte was last seen wearing, aiding the public in identifying her.
