Yesteryear icons Zeenat Aman and Neetu Kapoor added their unique charm to Karan Johar‘s chat show Koffee With Karan 8. In the latest segment, Neetu shared intimate insights into her late husband Rishi Kapoor‘s final days during his cancer treatment in New York.
When Karan prompted about that challenging period, Neetu said that she chose to focus on the positive aspects of their time in the city.”For me, I don’t like to remember the sad part. I like to remember the good part of our relationship and our time in New York. So New York was very sad, but we had the best year. I had the best year of my life,” she expressed.
Neetu also revealed how Rishi Kapoor underwent a transformative change during that year. Despite his usual tendency to maintain a certain distance, especially with his emotions, Rishi became incredibly affectionate and open, creating cherished memories for the family.

“He changed completely. The love and affection he showed me and my kids… the way he was with us, the way he was open, I can’t explain that. He was so in love with Ranbir and Riddhima,” Neetu shared.

Amidst the challenging moments of chemotherapy, there were also days of joy, filled with parties, lunches, movies, and shopping when Rishi was in good health. Despite the hardships, the Kapoor family experienced some of the best moments of their lives during that transformative period.

During the promotions of Animal, Ranbir also touched upon his relationship with his late father. Reflecting on the regret of not spending enough casual time with Rishi Kapoor, the actor expressed a common sentiment felt by those who lose a parent.
