NEW DELHI: A MiG-29K of the Indian Navy suffered a tire burst during taxiing at Goa’s Dabolim Airport while proceeding for a routine sortie on Tuesday afternoon. As a result, flight movement has been suspended until the stuck fighter jet is removed. Being the peak travel period, a large number of passengers are stuck at Dabolim. While airlines expected flights to resume after 4 PM, this has yet to happen.
“The runway at Dabolim is closed and should be available after 4 PM.Operations will resume after that. A naval aircraft is stuck on the runway and is being removed,” said an airline official.
An official from another airline said flights bound for Dabolim – a Naval airbase with a civilian terminal for scheduled flights – are being diverted to Goa’s Mopa Airport.
