‘My Demon’ episode 11 and 12 review: Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung’s tragic past is revealed with an edgy twist

The twists in the captivating narrative of ‘My Demon’ are getting edgier by the day! 2024 brought along some dramatic revelations in ‘My Demon’, while also proving some mushy romance between the two enchanting leads.

The latest two episodes had dramatic twists and turns lurking in every corner! It starts off with Jeong Gu-won (Song Kang) being literally on the top of the world as his powers are restored while he still gets to snuggle up to wifey Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung).He temporarily believes that all threats have ceased to exist and viewers are treated some some heartfelt moments of romance before the tragic past unfolds. The usual narrative of lovers separated by society in the Joseon era forms the basis of Jeong Gu-won and Do Do-hee’s tragic past. However, the dramatic titbits before the climax of the forlorn lovers are separated forever are engaging and heart-touching. The reason for Jeong Gu-won’s demonic birth is also unveiled in this episode.
Back to the present, Jeong is determined to achieve a happy ending in this life. Meanwhile, Noh Seok-min (Kim Tae-hoon) blames his son, Noh Do-gyeong (Kang Seung-ho) for being unsuccessful in harming Do Do-hee and forces him to admit to killing Joo Cheon-sook (Kim Hae-sook) and other misdeeds. Questioning his fate, Noh Do-gyeong ends up killing himself. The episode draws to an end with a flashback of the tragic accident of Do Do-hee’s parents and Joo Cheon-sook arriving at the site. With a chilling look in her eyes, Joo Cheon-sook admits to seeing the devil, Jeong Gu-won!

The charming lead couple has to go through the usual trials and tribulations of lovers and just when you thought that the narrative was becoming run-of-the-mill, the makers threw a curveball! The germ of Jeong Gu-won’s demonic personality is convincingly weaved into the narrative. And while Jeong Gu-won is turning into a new leaf, it is Noh Seok-min whose mysterious ways make you question if he has taken on the garbs of the demon. Also the cliffhanger conclusion of Jeong Gu-won seemingly make a deal he will live to regret is making the wait for the next episodes a tough one!
