My Demon episode 1 and 2 review: A cryptic case of the missing tattoo
With his sharp looks and envious style, Jung Gu Won will make you fall head-over-heels for a demon. His name translates as salvation and the only human quality he has, he enjoys gorging on cakes. Jung Gu Won expertly exploits the vulnerabilities of mortals with soul-binding contracts. During one of his many expeditions to collect souls, Jung Gu Won crosses paths with Do Hee, who is born into opulence through adoption and successfully orchestrates a flourishing business empire. She has many enemies to face and Jung Gu heroically tries to save her during one such scary encounter, but not before tempting her with one of his strategic contracts. What follows is a close brush with death and the charming demon ends up losing his powers to Do Hee.
The second episode sees Jung Gu Won spiraling desperately trying to resurrect and regain his powers, while avoiding Do Do Hee’s suspicions. While initially it seemed like Do Do Hee was falling for Jung Gu Won’s charms, his distressing ways to regain his lost ability repulse her. The cheeky face-offs, moments of fantasy and humour sprinkled over the narrative, make ‘My Demon’ an engaging watch. The first two episodes saw a massive change of power and we are enjoying the fiery chemistry between the lead actors. Kim Hae-sook, who plays Do Do Hee’s adoptive parent, is also hiding a secret, which adds a layer of intrigue to the narrative, waiting to be disclosed in the future.
