GUWAHATI: PM Narendra Modi on Friday batted for the use of artificial intelligence in the Indian judicial system to improve the ease of justice for the common citizen and build a strong, vibrant and modern legal system as a constitutional obligation.
“Be it the government or the judiciary, the role of every institution and their constitutional obligation are connected to the ease of living of the common citizens,” Modi said while addressing a gathering at the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Guwahati high court here.
Modi started his day-long trip by dedicating AIIMS Guwahati, the first in the NorthEast, and three other statemedical colleges to the nation, which he described as a new strength to the health infrastructure of Assam and the North-East. While launching these projects, he blamed politics of dynasty for being a drag on development.
Highlighting that technology has emerged as a powerful tool in achieving ease of living, the PM said the government is ensuring absolute utilisation of technology in every possible sector. Giving examples of DBT, Aadhaar and Digital India Mission, Modi said every scheme has become a medium of ensuring the rights of the poor.
He also emphasised the need for the government and the judiciary to be sensitive towards those who have been incarcerated for petty crimes for years. “Dharma protects those who protect the dharma,” the PM said quoting a hymn from scriptures, and underlined that it is our “dharma” as an institution that the work towards the nation remains foremost.
Slamming the opposition over politics of dynasty, regionalism, corruption and instability, Modi laid foundation stones, inaugurated, and dedicated projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore in Guwahati.
“Development becomes impossible when politics of dynasty, regionalism, corruption and instability start to dominate,” he said, referring to the long-festering challenges of the region, and cited the example of AIIMS New Delhi, which he said was established in the 1950s, but no effort was made to open AIIMS in other parts of the country.
“Despite the initiation of the process during the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, efforts did not move in subsequent years and only after 2014, these issues were addressed by the present government,” he said.
