Meghan & Harry’s Feud With the Beckhams Heats Up

[ad_1]

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry still have a lot of celebrity friends and supporters.

In fact, insiders say the Kardashians would do anything to work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — and Kim and company certainly aren’t the only ones who want a piece of America’s royals.

But as recent polls indicate, Harry and Meghan are less popular than ever following a rocky year with lots of mini-scandals and minor PR setbacks.

And it looks like the couple’s recent turmoils might have cost them some famous friends.

As we previously reported, Harry and Meghan are rumored to be feuding with David and Victoria Beckham.

The two couples were close when they all lived in the UK, but it seems the friendship came to a bitter end at some point in the past three years.

We might never know exactly what happened, but insiders have indicated that Posh and Becks remained loyal to the royals after Harry and Meghan stepped down.

And the rift between the former friends has only widened in the years since the Sussexes moved to California.

To make matters worse, the Beckhams have now managed to beat their former friends at their own game by releasing a Netflix docu-series that was much more successful than either of the Sussexes’ streaming projects by just about any metric.

Beckham has won rave reviews, and fans have applauded the doc for its warts-and-all portrayal of the soccer legend and the former Spice Girl.

In a scene that’s since gone viral, David admonishes Victoria for claiming that she grew up in a working-class household.

He asks what kind of car her father drove during her childhood, and she sheepishly admits he owned a Rolls Royce.

By contrast, Harry and Meghan’s project — fittingly titled Harry and Meghan — attempted to convince viewers that the Sussexes enjoy a perfect, virtually conflict-free marriage.

Not surprisingly, audiences seemed to prefer the Beckhams’ candor, with many viewers complaining that the Sussexes presented a “sanitized” version of their life.

Critics seemed to agree, as the Beckham documentary has 93 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 46 percent for Harry & Meghan.

The gap was even larger with viewers, as audiences gave Beckham a 97 percent approval rating, while only 19 percent gave a thumbs-up to Harry & Meghan.

This reminder of the tepid reaction to the Sussexes’ streaming content comes at a bad time for the couple.

In recent weeks, Harry and Meghan have been working overtime to rebuild their public image, but thus far, it seems their efforts have been fruitless.

First, the Sussexes traveled to Dusseldorf for the Invictus Games, the annual competition for disabled veterans that Harry helped to found in 2014.

Shortly thereafter, the couple hosted a mental health summit in New York City.

In both cases, the Sussexes received warm receptions and widespread praise for their humanitarian efforts.

But they were also subjected to criticism and scrutiny in the tabloid press and on social media.

Journalists and amateur haters noted that Meghan wasn’t wearing her engagement ring and that she declined to travel with Harry to London.

On TikTok, users analyzed her body language and accused her of being rude and dismissive toward her husband.

“They definitely should be concerned about this content that’s been produced and put on TikTok,” social media expert Christopher Bouzy tells Newsweek.

“A lot of this stuff does get millions of views.”

Needless to say, the Sussexes have learned the hard way that repairing their reputations and returning to their former glory won’t be as attending a few charity events.

But despite what their critics might wish, Harry and Meghan likely won’t be giving up and going away anytime soon.
