PATNA: A day after the CBI asked former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik to answer certain queries in connection with an alleged insurance scam in the Union Territory, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) on Saturday came out in open support of the former governor saying, “Malik Sahab have been a fighter (for the right cause).”
Reacting over the CBI summoning to Malik, JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh took to Twitter and posted in Hindi, “Malik Sahab, you have been fighting, and the people who use state power against its opponents are “cowards”. They are not aware that people in this country are watching everything. There was a strong apprehension of action against you since the day you disclosed the fact (related to Pulwama incident).”
In his tweet, the JD(U) president has obliquely referred to Malik’s recent interview to a news portal, in which he made critical remarks about the BJP-led Centre, especially regarding the terror attack in Pulwama and its handling of Jammu and Kashmir where he (Malik) served as the last governor before the erstwhile state was bifurcated into Union territories.
In his tweet, Lalan also quoted the opening lines of Bismil Azimabadi’s famous Urdu patriotic poem, “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai; Dekhna hai zor kitna baazu-e-qaatil mein hai. (The desire to sacrifice life is in our hearts. Let us see what strength there is in the arms of our executioner).”

Malik also served as the governor of Bihar for a period of nearly 11 months, beginning from September 30, 2017 to August 23, 2018.
Officials on Friday said that the CBI has asked Malik to answer certain queries in connection with an alleged insurance scam in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
This is the second time in seven months that Malik will be questioned by the central investigating agency. He was questioned in October last year after he concluded his gubernatorial responsibilities in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa and Meghalaya.
