JAMMU: Kishtwar Police arrested a man carrying 560 gelatin sticks weighing around 74kg in his car from the outskirts of the town on Sunday evening. The vehicle was seized and a case was registered against the driver under the Explosives Act.
However, ruling out a terror angle in the case, Kishtwar SSP Khalil Poswal said a preliminary investigation revealed the material belonged to a contractor but was being transported without proper procedure.
“Acting on specific inputs, an Alto car was intercepted by a police team at Zelana checking point on the outskirts of Kishtwar town on Sunday evening. During a search of the vehicle, around 560 gelatin sticks weighing up to 74kg kept in two plastic crates were recovered. Police seized the car and arrested the driver, identified as Tariq Hussain from Kishtwar’s Jawalapur,” a cop said on Monday.
