Khera: Everyone expects PM to speak on major issues like Adani row instead of trivial ones: Pawan Khera on his Meghalaya barb | India News

RAIPUR: Congress spokesman Pawan Khera, who was recently deplaned and arrested for objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said on Friday that he must speak on important issues like Adani row instead of picking up trivial issues.
“Everyone expects that the PM must speak on major issues, such as the Adani row, unemployment, price rise, problems on the Indo-China border and so on instead of picking up trivial matters to target opposition parties,” he said referring to his criticism of Congress for raising a slogan in Meghalaya.
“The Congress had played an important role in Rashtra Nirman. Bharat and Congress are intertwined and its responsibility is also much more,” he said, adding the Congress would continue to raise its voice against the issues facing the country.
Also expressing serious concern over the latest developments in Punjab, he maintained that it has the potential to pose a threat to the nation and that the government in the border state is not even “competent enough” to understand the problem.
“I am not saying that the state government in Punjab can solve the problem. We believe that the present government is not competent to even understand the problem,” Congress spokesman Khera told reporters at the venue of the 85th plenary session being held in the Chhattisgarh capital.
Khera was replying to a question about the latest developments in Punjab where hundreds of armed followers of a self-styled religious preacher raided a police station in Amritsar on Thursday. As the crowd, carrying holy books and swords, broke through barricades, demanding the release of their associates, police stood down and reportedly exercised restraint claiming that it did not want the situation to get out of hand.
Without naming anyone, Khera said those involved in it are not being “deplaned” or are made to face any action. The situation is really explosive and it’s time that both the Centre and the state focus and act on the problem.
