LONDON: In yet another horrific stabbing of an Indian in the UK, a 38-year-old from Kerala was killed in Southhampton Way Camberwell on Friday by a compatriot, who was arrested by the police on Saturday. This is the third killing of an Indian-origin person by stabbing in Britain this week.
The Metropolitan Police charged Salman Salim, 25, also from Kerala, with the murder of Aravind Sasikumar. Salim is understood to have been a flatmate living in a houseshare with Aravind — who hails from Panampilly Nagar in Kerala – in Southampton Way Camberwell. The duo shared community facilities with other Malayalis.
Salim appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 20 June. Police were called at 1.30 am on Friday after Aravind r was found with stab injuries outside a residential address in Southampton Way.
Sasikumar died on the spot and a post-mortem examination later on Friday confirmed that he died of stab wounds to the chest. Sasikumar had been living in the UK for the last 10 years after arriving on a student visa.
