As far as it has been reported, players such as Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes had jsut taken the stage at Union Station just when gunshots were fired.

At the time of writing, authorities are “still trying to determine the number of shooting victims,” but confirmed that multiple injuries were reported.

However, thankfully, the police department added that they had “two armed people into custody for more investigation.”

“We need people to exit the area as quickly and safely as possible and avoid the parking garage in order to facilitate treatment of shooting victims,” police posted on social media.

“Many of you have footage of many officers securing union station, they are working to provide for the safety of everyone inside union station and expedite care of those injured.”

The situation is still active, with the police not yet making any official statement outside of their Twitter/X.

However, reporter Marcus Officer for Fox News in Kansas City tweeted at 3:27 p.m. ET, “1 person has died, and at least 9 people hurt in shooting in Downtown KC. KCPD have 3 people in custody.”

It was confirmed earlier in the day that Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, would not be joining him at the parade.

Though she was on hand to see him win his 3rd Super Bowl and attend the after party, she was unable to make it to the celebration in Kansas City.

Taylor was heading to Australia at the time of the parade. Her Eras World Tour continues there in the coming weeks, with dates in Melbourne this weekend and then Sydney in the coming days.
