Following the reemergence of an episode of the podcast Powerful Truth Angels, dated January 30, 2024, where Lola Glaudini shared her experience of mistreatment by Johnny Depp while filming Blow, the actor has now spoken out.

According to a statement given by a representative for Depp, “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”

According to Glaudini, during the filming of a scene for the 2001 movie Blow, director Ted Demme instructed the actress to “burst out laughing” while Depp gave a monologue.

According to Glaudini, “I hear the cue, and I go haha, I do a big laugh or whatever,” Glaudini said. “Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face and he goes, ‘Who the f* do you think you are? Who the f* do you think you are? Shut the f* up. I’m out here, and I’m trying to fing say my lines and you’re fing pulling focus. You fing idiot. Oh, now, oh now it’s not so funny? Now you can shut up? Now you can fing shut the fuck up? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you f*ing stay.’”

According to Glaudini, this happened on her initial day of filming, and she had not yet encountered Depp. “This was my first studio movie, I’ve just done indies until then. And I have the star who I have idolized, who I am so excited to work with, reamed me in my face. The only thing going through my head was, ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.’”

She remembered that Depp came to her afterward and offered her a non-apology apology. “He said, ‘You know, so earlier I was really in my head and staying in my character, I’m doing this Boston accent, and it’s really fucking with me. So I’m a little tense and stuff. So I just wanted to make sure we’re cool and everything?’”

According to Glaudini, Demme (who passed away in 2002) did not apologize to her for the incident. She felt that he did not come over and address the situation, leaving her feeling abandoned.

“When we wrapped, I was like a pariah,” she added. “No one wanted to talk to me, because I am the bitch who he railed at.”
