SRINAGAR: J&K Police detained more than three dozen suspects — including former terrorists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and erstwhile separatists of Hurriyat Conference — from a Srinagar hotel on Sunday, where the suspects were meeting to discuss the revival of “JKLF and Hurriyat” in the Union Territory, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, cops conducted searches and raided the hotel near Kothibagh police station and detained the suspects — including Masroor Ansari and Shamshiuddin Rehman of Hurriyat, and JKLF’s Firdous Ahmed Shah, Mohd Rafiq Pehlu and Mohd Yasin Bhat — who were brought to the said police station for verification.
Prima facie, sleuths found that those detained were planning to revive the JKLF and Hurriyat. An inquiry was launched in this connection, Srinagar Police confirmed in a tweet.
