The film world is buzzing with anticipation as a biopic focusing on the story behind Bruce Springsteen‘s iconic album Nebraska begins to take shape. Big-name industry figures are reportedly eager to hop on board with this cinematic portrayal of The Boss’s life.

Confirmed details reveal that the project is currently being assembled by producers Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of The Gotham Group. The legendary musician, along with his longtime manager and producer Jon Landau, is actively engaged in its development.

Adding further prestige, Scott Stuber joins the production team, marking this venture as his inaugural undertaking since departing his post as Netflix’s film chief.

Although the deal details are still under wraps, sources indicate that indie powerhouse A24 may get involved. In creative talks, Scott Cooper, notably recognized for Crazy Heart, is poised to draft the screenplay and direct the feature possibly. Jeremy Allen White, beloved for his role in The Bear and a recent A24 project, The Iron Claw, is being considered for the part of a youthful Springsteen.

The narrative base is Warren Zanes’ engrossing piece, Deliver Me From Nowhere, published just last May. It offers insider glimpses into the creation of Springsteen’s 1982 masterpiece. Having unveiled personal interviews with Springsteen and his co-creators, the book showcases the album as possibly his finest work, a raw, authentic, and introspective collection birthed from solitary recordings in his New Jersey home.

If A24 secures its role, it would signify a collaborative bliss with White, who would shift his focus from the Windy City’s sets of The Bear seasons three and four to portray The Boss’s Jersey roots.
Springsteen, no stranger to the screen with his past cameos and music-based documentaries, has yet to see a significant portion of his life depicted in a traditional biopic format.

With the music biopic genre proving lucrative, as evidenced by the success of films like One Love on Bob Marley ($173 million worldwide) and the eagerly awaited Back to Black, which details Amy Winehouse, Springsteen fans and film enthusiasts alike have much to look forward to with this compelling project.
